Gucci
Gucci: history & brand profile

Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Italy. Initially, the company was a leather goods company, and only a small family business, rather than the big company it is today. Guccio Gucci revolutionized the fashion industry by introducing the bamboo handle bags, striped webbing, and suede moccasin products. Soon enough, Guccio Gucci’s business expanded, as his four sons began working for him. Many disputes began amongst the family members over business affairs, especially between the two brothers Rodolfo and Aldo. Aldo established the Gucci Accessories Collection in order to gain more control over the company, since he felt that his brother contributed very little, and still gained half of the profits. The family disputes would later tear apart the family, and diminish Gucci’s reputation as well. In the mid 80’s, Aldo was convicted of tax evasion, and Gucci was all over headlines, but not for merely its designs. When Rodolfo passed away, he left his 50% share in the company to his son, Maurizio Gucci, who, fortunately, decided to amend the family reputation. He partnered up with Aldo’s son, Paulo, and together, they took control of all the business affairs. The family finally decided to leave the company and put it in the charge of one man, so that further disputes would not tear up the family or diminish the reputation of the company. Gucci clothing and products are known for their luxurious appeal, their sophistication, and classy-chic appearance. Iconic figures in history and society such as Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and Grace Kelley were known to sport Gucci products frequently. With their help, Gucci was at the pinnacle of success in the 60’s and the 70’s, and Gucci still continues today as one of the top fashion designs in the fashion industry. Gucci sunglasses are offered in a variety of different styles and shapes, including aviator, metal, plastic, rimless glasses, and shield glasses. The price range for Gucci sunglasses is anywhere between $200 to around $360. Gucci luggages and handbags are also very popular, although Gucci clothing is what makes up the main line in the Gucci brand. Gucci fragrances include: Envy me, Gucci Eau de Parfum II, Envy Me II, Envy, Rush, Envy for men, and Pour Homme.
